With over three decades of networking and security experience, 365mesh and Outcomex deliver smooth installation and operation experiences. 365mesh’s Australian team designs our own range of sensors, cameras, and devices along with supporting existing third-party devices. We provide clients with a range of comprehensive support services for choosing, deploying, and managing their IoT solution. 

 

The Role 

Are you passionate about stretching your engineering skills and delivering real impact? We are looking for a Software Engineer with skills in firmware engineering and a strong grounding in Electrical/Computer Engineering. You’ll be working closely with our hardware engineers and cloud services engineers to produce new, innovative, category leading IoT devices. 

 

You will contribute to the engineering efforts for building, testing, manufacturing, deploying, and servicing IoT devices. You will be expected to apply solid devops skills, software engineering fundamentals, and ISO best-practices to create IoT firmware and related software. You will work together with our hardware engineers to ensure that firmware and hardware work together optimally to achieve reliable, long-lived, low-maintenance devices. 

 

This is an individual-contributor position that will feel most comfortable to candidates that enjoy an environment of autonomy and accountability, and close collaboration across engineering disciplines. 

 

Our technical stack is focused on C/C++, with back-end services in Go and Rust. Our firmware is based on Linux, Zephyr RTOS, and STMCubeMX running on NXP, ST, and Nordic Semiconductor hardware running in devices designed in-house. We maintain ISO compliance and work with modern devops and source-management tooling to ensure a secure and reliable software supply chain. 

 

In this role, you will: 

 

  • Partner with Product Managers, and our leadership team to define and evaluate our products. 
  • Be committed to a growth mindset, constructive collaboration, and a strong customer focus. 
  • Collaborate with hardware and cloud engineers to 
  • Create engineering specifications and high-level designs and pre-sales estimates. 
  • Contribute to the continuous growth and improvement of our offerings. 
  • Contribute to existing and new code bases to create firmware code that is maintainable, secure, efficient, and reliable. 
  • Contribute to code reviews and related CI/CD processes. 
  • Contribute to other peer collaborations and presentations that grow the entire team’s knowledge. 

 

Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering or equivalents or with 5 years of more of native-code engineering experience. 
  • Proficient in C/C++ 
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals. 
  • Strong native-code debugging skills. 
  • A working knowledge of microcontroller architecture; I2C, SPI, and UART comms; and GPIO interfaces. 

 

Additional consideration will be given to candidates with: 

 

  • Experience with wireless communication, especially LoraWAN, WIFI, and/or satellite communications 
  • Hardware engineering or Industrial engineering experience 
  • Experience debugging with logic probes, oscilloscopes, and related tools. 
  • Experience with control systems in Agriculture, Industry, or Transport applications of IoT devices 
  • Experience with any of: Matlab, PSpice, Altium Designer, Fusion 360, or related programs. 
  • Experience in Go or Rust
