Harris is seeking an experienced finance professional to join our team in the capacity of Assistant Controller on our Corporate Team.

As the Assistant Controller you will be a key member of the Harris Corporate Head Office team assisting the Corporate Controller and Director of Finance with a wide range of finance and accounting functions related to the business operations as well as to our ongoing acquisition activity.

 

Responsibilities

Review complex revenue recognition for software contracts which are accounted for under IFRS 15, including regular review of WIP schedules

Assess and recommend appropriate accounting treatments on complex issues 

Help integrate any new acquisitions into the finance group 

Help implement new accounting standards (e.g. IFRS 16 Leases) and resolve accounting matters through independent research, discussion and collaboration in areas such as revenue recognition and acquisition accounting

Review variance analysis (actuals to forecast and prior period) for all business units across Harris

Provide ongoing training to Finance team on financial reporting topics

Review Corporate account reconciliations

Coordinate interim and year-end external audits

 

What we are looking for:

4+ years of experience in an accounting or finance environment 

Completed or working towards a CPA designation

Experience with complex revenue recognition 

Experience with IFRS reporting framework 

Experience with project accounting (% complete) and software revenue recognition 

What will make you stand out:  

Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or accounting 

CPA designation

People management experience 

Public accounting experience
