A service-driven paper and packaging products company, Atlantic Packaging has grown to become one of Canada’s largest paper manufacturers and a leading producer of packaging products. Our organization employs approximately 1000 people at eight manufacturing plants and four distribution centers.
We are looking for a seasoned Facilities Manager to join our team on a 12 – 18 month contract to support our transition from a centralized to decentralized facilities function. The successful incumbent will support site leadership in identifying key priorities and implementing processes to support building maintenance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain effective business relationships with operations, suppliers and subcontractors,
- Create a Facilities Guide, establishing processes and guidelines for each location, identifying key stakeholders and outlining accountabilities
- Liaise with site leaders to provide guidance and support for facility issues/concerns
- Support procurement in identifying qualified suppliers to support building maintenance repairs and services
- Create and define inspection protocols and follow up on items identified during audits.
- Manages external services for building and utilities, including grounds-keeping, housekeeping and facility repairs at head office, to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effective management of resources.
- Reviews work orders to ensure that assignments are completed.
- Communicate with governing bodies and local services to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements.
- Obtains and reviews price quotes for the procurement of parts, services, and labor for projects.
- Acts as a liaison with insurance companies providing coordination and assistance as necessary.
- Coordinates annual audit of facilities for risk management purposes, tracking the completion of required projects ensuring all required documentation is in place.
- Work in consultation with management on security needs and establishing program requirements with external vendors and monitoring services.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of direct multi-site facilities management experience.
- Ability to modify approach to tasks based on the preferences of stakeholders and the unique demands of each situation
- Excellent understanding of manufacturing including safety requirements, quality systems and lean manufacturing tools.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret complex documents, blueprints, and schematics;
- An excellent organizer who knows how to prioritize and execute tasks in accordance to the timeline. Resource management and project management experience.
- Business acumen to understand cost of decisions and scalability of programs.
- Proficient in all aspects of MS Office (Outlook, Excel etc) and able to work with various systems
