Acuren Group is currently recruiting an Engineer to support our Engineering Department. This will report to the Engineering Mananger and will be based out of our Dartmouth, NS office.

 

Conduct engineering work including:

  • Performing engineering review of equipment integrity inspections and provide recommendations on suitability for service
  • Preparing repair designs and procedures for tanks and pressure equipment
  • Conducting field engineering services including metallography, hardness testing, laser scanning, visual inspections, and project planning
  • Project management services for a variety of inspection and in-service related projects.
  • Performing risk assessments on static equipment such as tanks, pressure vessels and piping.
  • Designing inspection test plans that address the expected degradation mechanisms
  • Mentoring less experienced staff 

 

Participating in technical projects:

  • Providing technical support to projects
  • Acting as project leader for site inspections and supporting technical investigations, communicating with client to gather evidence, conducting analysis and preparing report
  • Ability to manage large amounts of data effectively
  • Ability to resolve issues and problems that are not clearly defined
  • Ensuring efficient use of resources and delivery of results

 

Providing clients with support and engineering expertise by:

  • Proactively taking the initiative to understand customer requirements and needs to ensure expectations are met
  • Identifying additional services and products and new technologies to meet ongoing client needs
  • Meeting with customers to discuss report findings, recommendations and conclusions
  • Following up with clients regarding implementation of recommendations
  • Continually striving for process improvements including creating comprehensive reports and reports aligned to client needs, and identifying solutions to issues and developing recommendations for implementation
  • A university degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Materials, Physical Metallurgy, Corrosion, Structural, Welding)
  • Minimum of 2 years of directly related work experience; previous experience with pressure equipment assessment and inspection, strong abilities in report review, fitness for service review, and repair design is required
  • Membership in the applicable provincial association for professional engineers is required
  • Experience using the application of NDT methodologies towards optimal equipment maintenance strategies and the ability to provide a path forward based on testing results
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively respond to different levels of understanding, and produce professional reports
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations, and ISO Systems, and Acuren Safety and Quality Management Systems, policies and procedures
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs and driver license, Class 5 (clean record) required.
