Location: Hybrid in Coquitlam, BC
Job Type: Permanent, full time

Total Sanitation Services is a route-based provider of portable sanitation rental equipment and related services. The Total Sanitation Services family of brands now has strategically located branches in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Oregon, and Texas. We are currently pursuing strategic add-on acquisitions of leading portable sanitation providers throughout North America. Our vision is to be North America's sanitation services provider of choice in the markets that we serve.


About the Role
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day financial and accounting operations while providing executive-level financial oversight and insight. This role will ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and internal controls, and strengthen internal controls and processes as the organization grows. Working closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, the Controller will act as a trusted financial partner, supporting operational excellence, scalability and the long-term financial health of the business.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements for multiple entities ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Oversee daily accounting operations while providing guidance and support to the accounting team.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis, translating results into actionable insights.
  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends and advise leadership on business decisions.
  • Establish, maintain and improve internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Manage cash flow and cash forecasting to support operational and strategic needs.
  • Oversee tax compliance (including HST filings) and coordinate audits and external advisors.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements and best practices.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports as required.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in a comprehensive accounting or finance role.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline is required.
  • Completion of or working towards a professional designation (CPA, CGA, CMA, or CA) will be considered a strong asset.
  • US GAAP experience is considered a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, with strong Excel skills is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with ERP systems including implementation and optimization, Sage Intacct experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and decision-making skills.
  • Highly self-driven with the ability to take initiative and ownership across all areas of responsibility.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, positive and collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization and with external partners.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy specifically in fast paced environments with frequent interruptions.
