Summary
:The Fibre Construction Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects associated with new fiber network builds, to include: dark fiber, enterprise, E-Rate, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH). The individual is responsible for managing all aspects of projects along with client, vendor relationships and engineers, drafters, administrative personnel to ensure that projects are successfully completed on time. This position requires frequent overnight travel and will have extended work hours; overtime and weekends as needed. In most cases, you will be provided with a company vehicle - otherwise you will be reimbursed for mileage. You must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and be insurable by the company’s auto insurance carrier.
Qualifications and Responsibilities: Qualified individuals should be experienced in reading and understanding utility or telecommunications cable systems and associated documents. Prior OSP/ISP engineering or construction experience is a must. A successful candidate must meet most of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below:
Minimum education BEng, BSc, College Civil Technology Certificate or equivalent. 3+ years of engineering, construction, and project management experience. PMP Designation achieved or working toward completing certification. 1-2 years of project execution experience. Experience managing multiple discipline projects within projects. A thorough understanding/ experience in the OSP/ISP telecom industry, public right-of-way, private easements, existing utilities such as water, sewer, electric, gas, and other underground and aerial utilities. Proficiency in base-mapping, Google Earth, GIS and layering, fundamental knowledge of Outside Plant, running line, conduit and cable design for fiber optics, and Make-Ready Engineering Experience with GIS based design platforms: Utilities, research files, drawings and maps for relative information, plat research, assessor's information, survey maps and parcel information (GIS). Experience with underground utility locates Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite and GSuite. Excellent oral/written communication skills, strong organizational skills, high level of integrity, and strong team player. Experience communicating directly with and providing services to clients. Ability to give direction and training to Engineering/Construction peers and teammates. Ability to multi-task and work on distinct functions of overall project simultaneously. Ability to compile closeout documentation and reports. Proficiency in driving processes to committed timelines through various stages of project(s). Knowledge of telecommunication and/or electrical distribution systems, engineering principles, constructability and design standards is a must Must be able to read schematics, maps, and work prints (staking sheets) Previous experience with GIS, CAD or LiDar is a plus but not required. Essential Functions: Negotiate pricing and manage subcontractors as it pertains to small cell node construction. Work to identify new resources as required by the project for suppliers and subcontract-labor. Issue or oversee issuance of vendor purchase orders to both suppliers and sub-contractors as needed for project. Compile and submit matrix pricing bids with assistance of project coordinator as needed by client. Procure materials as needed for projects including purchasing and delivery. Responsible for scheduling construction activities through either in house or subcontract labor resources and report schedule to client. Responsible for updating client trackers daily/weekly for various stages of completion based on construction schedule. Attend weekly conference calls with client to provide progress updates. Identify critical issues that may impact/delay overall project timeline and work with supervisor to present solutions to client. Manage project coordinator(s) to oversee administrative duties (permit submittals, purchase order requests, etc.) Collaborate with Site Acquisition and A&E teams on front end to determine best construction solutions for client. Responsible for budgeting and monthly revenue with assistance of Division Manager and/or Regional Director. Effectively communicate with Division Manager and/or Regional Director on regular basis regarding schedules, status, productivity, and performance. Work with local utility provider and/or city authorities to ensure the company is meeting all requirements and performing in the market. Establish and maintain good relations with clients, partners, and local authorities aimed at safeguarding and promoting client interests. Oversee the planning and execution of bulk project consisting of 20-30 projects annually. Provide support to all team members by assisting in prioritizing and managing workloads. Provide day-to-day production support for project issues. Be willing to travel 50-60%. Work Environment: Approximately 70% performed in a climate-controlled internal office environment working under normal office conditions. Approximately 50% travel may be required in support of the position’s responsibilities.
