We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Boart Longyear team in Mississauga, On. This position will require an engineer with experience in lean management, quality management, metallurgy, or CNC programming.
Position Summary
Performs professional engineering and scientific assignments of a basic degree of complexity. Work involves the application of basic engineering/scientific principles to assigned problems. Applies knowledge of engineering or scientific principles to accomplish a wide variety of technical assignments within company technical staff activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducts investigations or tests of a routine degree of complexity pertaining to the development of new designs, methods, materials, or processes and investigates possible application of results, applying training and experience in one or several specialized branches of science and engineering.
- Obtains, correlates, and analyzes technical information needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Prepares reports, charts, graphs, and other documents and makes recommendations to senior staff.
- Originates and develops the design of a variety of products, processes, components or equipment requiring analyses of a moderately complex level.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of directly related experience.
- Familiarity with ISO-9001 Quality System and ISO-14000 Environmental System.
- Must have permanent work authorization for Canada.
- Valid Canadian Driver’s License.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), AutoCAD, Oracle, Manufacturing Systems.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working on lean tools (5S, time study, standard work, SMED, value stream mapping, problem-solving tools, TPM – Autonomous Maintenance, etc.).
Responsibilities
- Review daily production goals to identify the gaps and improve; perform tracking through visual charts and reporting on progress.
- Managing daily production improvements and continuous improvement projects to improve on Safety, Quality, Cost & Delivery goals.
- Instill a continuous improvement culture through Tier (Team) Meetings, Leader Standard Work, Gemba Walk, Accountability board, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of health and safety protocols and regulations.
