Job Description - Manufacturing Engineer

Job Purpose

This role will provide critical support to the engineering team, particularly in finalizing the technical designs and overseeing the implementation of manufacturing processes for the anode and graphene project.

Responsibilities

  1. Design Finalization: Collaborate closely with the engineering team to refine and finalize detailed designs for the anode materials and graphene production process. This includes validating equipment layouts, material flows, and process specifications to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Process Optimization: Work on optimizing manufacturing processes to improve production efficiency and reduce costs. This will involve identifying opportunities for automation, enhancing material usage, and minimizing waste.
  3. Technical Oversight: Provide hands-on oversight during the execution phase, ensuring that all equipment and processes are installed and calibrated correctly. Ensure that the manufacturing setup is aligned with both the technical requirements and regulatory standards for battery materials and graphene production.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the liaison between the engineering, R&D, and operations teams to ensure that all departments are aligned on project goals and timelines. Provide technical support to other teams where needed.
  5. Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all designs and processes comply with industry standards, particularly in relation to environmental, health, and safety regulations. This will include regular inspections and audits to maintain a safe working environment.
  6. Vendor and Supplier Coordination: Work with equipment suppliers and contractors to ensure timely delivery and installation of machinery and other components. Participate in contract negotiations and vendor assessments to ensure that all external partners meet project technical specifications.
  7. Commissioning and Testing: Oversee the commissioning of production equipment and systems, conducting thorough testing to ensure that performance metrics are achieved. Resolve any technical issues that arise during testing or early-stage production.

Training, Degrees:

Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or any other related field.

Experience, Knowledge:

2 years of North American experience working on mining projects, pharmaceutical, battery or chemical projects; Proven experience with Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies.

Skills, Aptitudes:

  • Bilingualism (French-English) is required as the successful candidate will be interacting on a regular basis with contacts outside Quebec;
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines;
  • A proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
