Job Description - Test Bay Technician

Eaton\u2019s ES AMER PCS division is currently seeking a Test Bay Technician. Eaton\u0027s Toronto, Ontario site is dedicated to our Critical Power and Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) business in Canada which provides power protection, backup, and reliability solutions to ensure that critical electrical systems stay running.Our cross functional teams from Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Customer Service, to Logistics Operations design and deliver turnkey solutions to ensure uninterrupted power where and when it matters most. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nPRIMARY FUNCTION:\n\nReporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the maintenance of equipment and parts, as well as UPS testing for the services function of the Critical Power Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) business in Canada. Provide field service support and consultation such as acceptance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage systems; advise customers and provide best technical solution to solve the customer issue; complete assigned jobs with assistance from lead technicians and engineers; conduct required tests and calibration using test equipment; check and maintain equipment to ensure compliance with applicable standards.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:\n\n * Fosters an environment that promotes Eaton\u2019s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement through participation and teamwork\n * Advises local leadership when required product assembly duration cannot be met\n * Communicate and resolve schematic issues/concerns/errors with the Engineering team\n\n\n\n## Functions:\n\n \nResponsibilities related to Process, Continuous Improvement, and/or Development;\n\n * Expected to understand the order, drawing, material and volume seasonality as well as factory supplies\n * Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations\n * Embraces and assists in the deployment of all corporate initiatives such as Lean (ie. 5S), MESH, EBS\n * Maintain all service equipment including all test equipment, tools issued to meet specifications including EBE, ISO requirements, etc. in good working condition and maintain sufficient inventory to respond to standard calls.\n * Participates in weekly review meetings and production planning with functional leadership, as applicable\n * Provide timely, detailed and accurate reports on service work performed, product performance, and warranty liabilities to company expense and time allocation.\n * Coordinate the electrical safety glove \u2013 testing program, to ensure certification is maintained.\n\n\n\nResponsibilities related to Operations and/or Development;\n\n * Work with supply chain to ensure factory acceptance testing is completed in a timely manner.\n * Performs functionality display of equipment to customers\n * Manage all service parts and equipment in the distribution center by receiving, evaluating and determining functionality.\n * Refurbishment of used parts and equipment.\n * Scraps non-functional parts and equipment\n * Setup the equipment required for testing and perform testing of products.\n * Maintenance and clean-up of the test bay portion of the distribution center.\n * Determine wiring sequence, overall layout and location of components to drawing\n * Setup and energizing for the purposes of battery recharge.\n * Perform other duties as required\n\n\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nBasic Qualifications: \n\u2022 Grade 12 or GED from an accredited institution is required \n\u2022 Minimum 2 years of hands-on electrical maintenance work \n\u2022 Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship\n\n \nPreferred Qualifications: \n\u2022 Certified Technician, C.Tech. designation. \n\u2022 5 years experience in mechanical assembly, power and/or control wiring \n\u2022 Experience in basic testing and servicing electrical distribution and control systems is highly desirable. \n\u2022 Experience with warehousing, material handling and industrial truck operation \n\nPosition Criteria: \n \n\u2022 Effective communication / interpersonal skills \n\u2022 Good organizational and time management skills. \n\u2022 Strong analytic skills. \n\u2022 Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office). \n\u2022 Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics. \n\u2022 Mechanical skills, hands -on. \n\u2022 Good attitude and work ethic. \n \n\n \n \n\nThis posting is for an existing vacancy.\n\nAt Eaton we leverage artificial intelligence to recommend jobs to you that match the skills and experience required for the open role.
