Purchasing & Inventory Manager

Location: Delta, BC

brands in the world with industry best product variety and customer service. We deliver to Major Grocery,


Drug, Gas & Convenience, chain retailers and independent retailers across Western North American


markets through Direct to Store Delivery (DSD) and Warehouse Fulfillment, and provide services for


mobile vendors, corporate events, and third-party logistics (3PL) customers.
Reporting to the President, the appointee will be responsible for all purchasing and inventory operations


for TransCold’s Canadian business. The appointee will also lead the transformation of the purchasing


team to ensure that the team is adequately equipped for the changes in our business. This is a great


opportunity for seasoned purchasing professionals with relevant experience in frozen food distribution


environments and are excited about supporting aggressive sales growth.
Key Responsibilities include:
Translate sales forecast into a buying plan.
Review and approve all purchase orders.
Manage the purchasing process flow and purchases for all inventory replenishment with the
goal of maximizing sales, availability and maximizing inventory turns and minimizing


surpluses.
Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand and order products accordingly.
Identify and recommend specific buying opportunities for margin improvements and sales
promotions.
Actively work with the Sales and Operations teams to ensure sales and warehousing
considerations are factored in the purchasing decisions.
Generate, analyze, and communicate key purchasing and inventory metrics (demand, supply,
inventory, service levels, stock-outs, inventory turns and the like).
Collaborate with Finance in the administration of accurate pricing, SKU management, costing
of all products within the system and reconciliation of vendor invoices.
Manage vendor correspondence, review, and resolve all shipment discrepancies and claims
to vendors.
Identify and lead continuous improvement in Purchasing processes.
Lead and mentor the Purchasing team, including driving accountability, setting performance
objectives, conducting regular team meetings, and communicating direction and changes,


and providing ongoing opportunities for advancement.





Key Qualifications for this Role:
5-10 years’ experience in purchasing, inventory management
Demonstrated track record of managing Purchasing and Inventory teams in high volume
food distribution environments
SCMP, CPIM, CSCP designation or similar business degree required
Understanding of frozen food industry and temperature-controlled products an asset
Strong capabilities in managing a wide range of products
Proficient with WMS/MRP systems and inventory management best practices
Excellent communication skills at all levels including interpersonal, written and presentation
skills as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts
Strong organization skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Well developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Strong leadership skills, including a team orientation and ability to inspire
