Job Description - Event Manager Independent Hotel Amsterdam

A rare and exciting opportunity for an Event Manager who demonstrates strong commercial acumen, loves being part of the community their event serves and has a desire to continue the development of an event at the heart of the hospitality industry. The Event Manager will have the freedom to autonomously drive strategic growth and direction, whilst delivering on all commercial elements and liaising with the event team across all departments in the day to day running of the event. The Independent Hotel Show is a highly focused business event dedicated to hotel owners, general managers, and high-level operators. We provide a platform above and beyond the traditional exhibition for suppliers from across the hotel supply chain to engage and inspire a targeted audience of hoteliers from the Benelux region. There is no other event like it. You will delve deep into the world of boutique and independently-spirited hotels to become a trusted source of industry knowledge and connections. The position requires you to be fully immersed in the industry, enabling you to create relationships and opportunities for all participating in and attending the event. We curate the exhibition, aesthetics, and content with an aim to fulfil and delight the audience. Our visitors attend, not only to source great products from our exhibitors and partners, but to learn, network with their community and enjoy an inspired experience. The role will give the applicant the opportunity to be imaginative in the experience they create, whilst immersing themselves in the industry by creating lasting relationships. ROLE PROFILE
• Full event management responsibility, strategy creation and execution, P&L delivery, budget, and floorplan management.
• Commercial management – key accounts, partners, stakeholders, trade associations as well as the ability to get involved in the development of the commercial plan and attend client meetings, with a key focus on sponsorship revenue.
• Day to day management of the event team, both direct reports and indirect management of centralised stakeholders (matrix management).
• Build, develop and grow key partnerships, both commercial and non-commercial which drive revenue and community engagement.
• Planning, coordinating, implementing & monitoring all marketing communication activities to ensure deadlines are met, within budget and in-line with the event marketing goals.
• Understanding new market trends to develop new concepts and co-located programmes to develop the event.
• Managing and developing dedicated projects to increase visitor attendance.
• Developing a strategy for a comprehensive commercial campaign to achieve revenue and commercial growth goals.
• Attending industry events to gain excellent understanding of the market.
• Specification and oversight of digital strategy for the event.
• Generate stand and sponsorship revenue over the phone and face to face.
• Visit competitive events, meet existing customers and prospect for new business. COMPETENCIES
• HBO level of education and thinking.
• Extensive work experience in larger 500+ participant MICE events.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience as an Event Manager or Senior Sales Manager (strategy, P&L, campaign execution, stakeholder management).
• Leadership experience and the ability to take a team to a higher level.
• Fluent command of the Dutch and English language (both written and verbal).
• Keen interest in the hospitality sector.
• Strong sales skills: ability to demonstrate objection handling, experience in sourcing new leads and writing effective partnership and sponsorship proposals.
• An innovator – looking at the future, industry trends and market needs to keep the event number 1 in the industry.
• Excellent creative skills, ability to develop creative and imaginative event concepts.
• Exceptional time management. Event dates do not move.
