Fleet Manager

Gearbulk is an international shipping group providing high quality transportation services for various industrial sectors. Founded in 1968 by Kristian Gerhard Jebsen in Bergen, Norway, the company is 51% owned by the Kristian Jebsen family, and 49% owned by Mitsui OSK Lines, based in Japan. In 2017 Gearbulk and Grieg Star established the joint venture G2 Ocean with headquarters in Bergen, Norway. The group operates the world’s largest fleet of open hatch vessels, specifically designed and equipped to transport unitized cargoes such as forest products, steels and non-ferrous metals and project cargo. Gearbulk is also involved in terminal operations.

With an exciting future ahead, we are looking for a self-driven and proactive Fleet Manager to join our Fleet Management team in Gearbulk Norway AS.

Leading and managing a team of superintendents the job holder will be responsible for the technical management and co-ordination of an assigned fleet, complying with the safety, cost, quality and operational objectives of the company.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who:

• Has a passion for vessels and technological development within the shipping industry
• Has good managerial skills and enjoys working with people
• Has good knowledge of budget and cost control
• Has experience with supervising and monitoring all technical matters, cost, safety and operational performance of a dedicated fleet
• Knows how to inspire and challenge to optimize work processes and systems
• Believes in team-work, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing
• Is well acquainted with relevant laws and regulations
• Has an international mindset and embraces diversity

The successful candidate should preferably have maritime sailing experience such as serving as Chief Engineer or higher technical education (Naval Architect, MSc); in addition to experience as a Superintendent or similar within the shipping industry. The company’s international character requires good written and verbal English language skills. The role of Fleet Manager will report to Head of Technical, and the position is located in Bergen, Norway.
