We are looking for a headchef to help develope our café to be the leading café for lunches in Narvik.

Hva vi ser etter

For this position we are looking for a person that have:

• 
  

  Experience from kitchen, as a chef, sous chef or head chef

• Skills in organizing, planning and developing

• 
  

  Experience in setting up a menu

• 
  

  Good knowledge about lunch diches.

• Experience in using a stone oven

• 
  

  Good economical understanding when it comes to cost efficiency, ordering, food waste and storage control

• 
  

  Languages:

  • Good communication in English, written and spoken

  • 
    

    any Scandinavian languages are not a requirement, but you will have to be able to navigate Norwegian web-pages and systems in relation to your position. I.e. pages for ordering food supplies and beverages.

  • 
    

    if you speak any other languages, it will be valued

Arbeidsoppgaver

Jernbanecafeen is a traditional café/restaurant located at Narvik Railway station. Jernbanecafeen was completely rebuilt in 2023 and today it is fitted as a beautiful restaurant with 88 seats.

Jernbanecafeen is the daughter company of Arctic Train, a tourist train that operates on the beautiful Ofoten railway.

It is a close cooperation between these two companies, where part of the staff often works at both places. Jernbanecafeen caters food, pastries and beverages to the train

We are looking for a Head chef that can help develop our new lunch concept, and will have the overall responsibility for the kitchen.

This includes:

• 
  

  Developing concepts

• 
  

  Setting up menus

• Administrative tasks such as, ordering, storage control, cost efficiency, and control systems

• 
  

  Responsible for the quality of the food that is served

• 
  

  Lead, teach, motivate and develop kitchen personnel

• Cooperation with the board and general manager to secure that the goals of the company is met.

Jernbanecafeen has a fully fitted modern kitchen, but one of the key features here that is not utilized today is two big pizza ovens/stone ovens.

NB! we do not want to develop a pizza concept!
