About us
The Ministry of Social Development is a people-centred organisation. We’re in communities across the motu, working with partners to help New Zealanders be safe, strong and independent.
We provide social policy and advice to government and assistance, including income, employment and housing support to people of all ages, families, whānau and communities.
As a Te Tiriti o Waitangi partner we are committed to supporting and enabling Māori, whānau, hapū, Iwi and communities to realise their own potential and aspirations.
Our people are as diverse as the communities we serve. We care about the wellbeing and success of our people and provide a supportive and inclusive working environment where people can thrive and be who they are.
Reporting to the Regional Director, the role of the Manager Client Service Delivery is the senior leadership role in one of our region’s nine service centres. You will have oversight for the provision of services that contribute to our clients receiving any benefit or support they may be eligible for and most importantly, you will support our clients to find sustainable employment. This position is a critical link within the local community.
Economic independence affects the health, well-being, and long-term outcomes for families, whānau and wider communities. Each of our managers’ client service delivery are responsible for interacting with and establishing positive relationships with business, employers and across their local community. This is important to ensure we can provide an effective and thorough service to everyone across the region who may need MSD support.
The manager client service delivery is appointed to the region and may be placed in any one of our nine service centres.
About you
We’re looking for a person who chooses to lead by example and encourage their team to look for ways in which they can exceed regional goals. Yes, the role requires a person who can motivate, share knowledge, support, guide and encourage their team to be the best they can be, but we also need someone who can partner taking both an internal and external perspective. There is a role to play within the local community and there is a broader responsibility as a leader across the wider Wellington region.
The successful candidate will make a significant contribution towards the achievement of our strategic goals by working with and alongside other regional leaders.
As the manager client service delivery, you will be involved in local and regional projects and participate in a variety of community and local activities which support the work undertaken by MSD. From interacting with community groups and partners to presenting information to businesses and local government, you will professionally represent MSD in a positive manner influencing stakeholder cooperation and teamwork.
You will also have a sound understanding of the local labour market, trends and barriers that impact people looking for employment and be skilled at implementing prevention and intervention solutions.
As part of our leadership team, you will bring a fresh perspective and innovative ideas to help deliver on the Ministry’s strategic objectives and drive continuous improvement. Your initiative and personal resolve to deliver results will be a noticeable contribution in meeting our collective goals.
• Sound experience as a leader with a successful track record in leading high performing teams
• A sound knowledge and understanding of MSD services and support would be an asset but is not essential.
• Demonstrated ability to establish, build on and maintain strong internal and external relationships across diverse groups of people and businesses.
• Experience in developing people to achieve and exceed performance expectations.
• Experience managing budgets and providing effective on-time reporting.
• High energy and a strong commitment to supporting team outcomes.
In addition to this experience and skill set, we are looking for that ‘x’ factor – a person who sees solutions rather than problems, identifies new opportunities for partnership and someone who understands that customer service is the cornerstone of MSD and employment, and financial independence are a worthwhile goal for everyone.
We have a unique opportunity to help many Kiwis who have found themselves in financial difficulty and to engage with others who are looking for a new future. Helping clients into learning and/or sustainable work which offers them improved economic outcomes and supporting housing solutions are some of the rewarding moments of this role but there are many more. Supporting pensioners, sole parents, people with disability, jobseekers and people who may need support and training to help them with their career aspirations - these will all be moments of learning and opportunity.
We are looking for a leader who can support, build, and encourage a team to exceptional performance which will ultimately build security, health and wellbeing for our wider Wellington families, whānau and communities.
