Chief Accounting Officer

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivables, and general ledger.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow statements).
• Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, VAT filing, and other statutory requirements.
• Conduct financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
• Assist in the preparation of annual financial reports and audits.

Real Estate / Brokerage-Specific Accounting:

• Manage commission payments and revenue recognition for property sales, rentals, and leasing.
• Ensure accurate recording of brokerage transactions, including escrow accounts and client funds.
• Monitor and reconcile accounts related to property investments, mortgages, and service charges.
• Coordinate with sales teams and agents on commission structures and payment processing.

Internal Controls & Compliance:

• Implement and maintain internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with financial laws, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and tax authorities.

Team Leadership & Support:

• Supervise and mentor the accounting team, guiding financial procedures.
• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by junior accountants.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA, CMA, or ACCA is a plus).
• Experience: Minimum 7+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in the real estate/brokerage industry.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Excel.
• Knowledge of Financial Regulations: Familiarity with IFRS, local tax laws, and real estate financial reporting standards.
• Analytical Skills: Strong financial analysis, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities.
• Leadership: Ability to manage and develop an accounting team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in a real estate development, brokerage, or property management company.
• Knowledge of escrow accounting, real estate commissions, and service charge reconciliations.
• Experience in dealing with banks, auditors, and tax authorities.
