Association of Singapore Marine Industries
The Association of Singapore Marine Industries (ASMI) is a non-profit trade association set up in 1968 to promote the interest and advancement of the marine industry in Singapore.
ASMI represents the different sectors of the Singapore marine and offshore industry in the business of ship repair and conversion, shipbuilding, rigbuilding and offshore engineering. Its members include big and small shipyards, local and foreign manufacturers and suppliers of marine equipment and components, marine engineering and consultancy companies, and marine contractors whose business activities are related directly to the industry.
Its objectives are to represent and promote the interest of its members and the marine and offshore industry in Singapore and overseas, as well as to foster closer cooperation among member and between affiliated organisations in Singapore and internationally. ASMI also promotes regular programmes to improve productivity, technology, skills upgrading and to raise safety, health and environmental standards in the industry. The Association maintains a close relationship with the government and statutory boards through direct representatives and regular dialogues on matters affecting the industry.
The main role of ASMI are to enhance the knowledge and skills of the marine workforce, to promote the collective interest of the marine and offshore industry as well as to link up and integrate the industry. The Association has a membership strength of more than 230 corporate members.
