Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Business Development Manager drives and accelerates an over-proportional sales growth in the designated markets in Asia Pacific. He/she develops, finds, drives, manages and nurtures new business opportunities for assigned markets, industries and Product Centers. Supports a deeper understanding of customers' application requirements and work closely with PM to address current & future customers' needs. He/she seeks to identify key differentiators of our proposed solutions relative to existing competition. Main contact person and key success driver for the Japanese Market sales development (new market development)

  1. Main person responsible for the successful entry into Japan market, and creation or development of sales opportunities into this initial strategic push into this market.
  2. Create, access and accelerate the direct sales in Japanese Laboratory Automation market
  3. Formulate Go-To-Market strategy (sales approach, marketing and channels) in developing the laboratory automation business inside Japan
  4. Create and develop key relationships with intralogistics key accounts (eg. Daifuku, Murata etc), and grow over-proportional revenues with such accounts
  5. Selection, driving, leading and steering the local Business Partner/s to overall business objectives
  6. Co-operation with Corporate Marketing Sales (CMS) IKAM, to align on international key account strategy
  7. Close co-operation with local Product Managers in Singapore, as the gateway to feedback to corporate Product Center teams. These topics are part and parcel of the BDM role:
    1. Provide VOC inputs (with business and application information)
    2. New business opportunities (new customers & industries) & application
    3. Feedback from market and customers with focus on applications and product features
    4. Assessment of market trends (2-5 years horizon) with usage of available sources

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Possibility to manage a team if the business growth has been met

TRAVELLING:Frequent traveling required (only if allowed relative to Covid-19 situation in the respective regions)

EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in automation, electronic engineering, business and administration, economics, etc
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration/Management from a local University would be highly advantageous.
  • Global citizen.
  • Knowledge in technology and experience in healthcare sector. Previous working experience with medical sensor products would be highly advantageous.
  • At least 6 years automation market related work experience, especially in the healthcare industries
  • At least 3 years working experience in a manager role or department leader
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with people of all levels.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Creative problem solver, with good time management skills
  • Effectively bilingual. Fluent (written and spoken) in English and Mandarin to work with Mandarin-speaking clients
  • Japanese language would be highly advantageous for working with Japanese-speaking clients and market.

CHARACTER PRE-REQUISITES:

  • Demonstrates teamwork, customer orientation in previous roles
  • Exhibits strong integrity in business dealings
  • Business savvy and proven ability to support the sales and business development organization is necessary
  • Familiar with the applications in the intralogistics and/or LAB Automation industry segments, and use of bar code readers (laser and camera) will be highly desired
  • Self-start and independent individual with ability to make important decisions
  • Effective team player through mutually supportive professional relationship
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity and adaptability are essential
