Job Summary

We are looking for a Senior Lead / Staff DevOps Engineer to join our team at Rakuten Singapore. As a seasoned engineer with over a decade of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, and cloud infrastructure, you will act as both a staff engineer and a hands-on contributor. You will own the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud-native platforms and production systems.

In this role, you will set the technical direction for infrastructure, CI/CD, observability, and incident response. You will also mentor engineers and drive modern practices in AIOps and AI-assisted DevOps. This position is ideal for a candidate who thrives at the intersection of deep engineering, production troubleshooting, and long-term platform strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Platform, Infrastructure & Kubernetes

·      Design, build, and operate production-gradeKubernetes platforms (EKS, GKE, AKS, or self-managed) at scale across multiple regions.

·      Define and drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC)standards using Terraform (modules, remote state, policy-as-code) and Ansible.

·      Own the broader cloud strategy (AWS/GCP/Azure),including networking, IAM, cost optimization, multi-tenancy, and disaster recovery.

·      Lead the design and rollout of service mesh(Istio/Linkerd), secrets management (Vault/SOPS), and secure networking patterns.

·      Build and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines(Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, ArgoCD, Tekton) with a focus on GitOps, progressive delivery, and supply chain security.

·      Drive self-service developer platforms that reduce friction and enable product teams to ship faster without compromising reliability.

·      Embed DevSecOps practices, including container scanning, SAST/DAST and compliance with industry standards (SOC2, ISO 27001,PCI-DSS).

·      Provide technical leadership across multiple teams: review architectures, set engineering standards, and own the platform roadmap.

·      Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

·      Partner with Engineering, Product, and Security leadership to align platform investments with business priorities.

SRE, Reliability & Production Troubleshooting

·      Take end-to-end ownership of production reliability by defining SLOs/SLIs, managing error budgets, and conducting blameless post-mortems.

·      Act as a senior incident commander during critical outages, leading root cause analysis across Kubernetes, database, and application layers.

·      Mature the observability stack (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, OpenTelemetry, Datadog) to push the team toward data-drivenoperations.

·      Execute chaos engineering, capacity planning, and performance tuning to proactively harden systems.

AI for DevOps (AIOps)

·      Drive the adoption of AI and LLM-based tooling across DevOps workflows, including AI-assisted incident triage, log analysis,auto-remediation, and ChatOps copilots.

·      Integrate AI coding assistants and agent-basedautomation into daily engineering workflows.

·      Build internal tooling that utilizes LLMs forrunbook generation, RCA summarization, and organizational knowledge retrieval.

Required Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

·      11+ years of progressive experience in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Infrastructure roles, with significant time in a senior/staff capacity.

·      Deep expertise in Kubernetes (multi-cluster,Helm, operators) and Terraform (large-scale modules, policy-as-code).

·      Advanced proficiency with at least one major cloud provider (AWS/GCP/Azure).

·      Strong experience with CI/CD, Linux internals, networking, and scripting (Bash/Python).

·      Proven track record of leading large-scaleproduction incidents and conducting thorough root cause analysis.

·      Practical experience using AI/LLM tools for DevOps, SRE, or automation.

·      Strong grounding in software delivery lifecycles, GitOps, and distributed systems.
