UWCSEA East has a vacancy for August 2021 for a Vice Principal of Primary School. The Vice Principal is one of the pedagogical leaders within the Junior School. The Vice Principal, working with other members of the Primary Leadership Team, is responsible to the Principal of Primary School for the learning programme in the Primary School.

The Vice Principal will also work as a member of the East Campus Leadership Team to ensure unity of purpose within the Campus and the College as a whole.

Main Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Primary School Vice Principal fall under the following headings and involve the full spectrum of responsibilities a Vice Principal role would entail:

  • Culture of Care and Wellbeing
  • Staff Leadership
  • Leadership of Learning
  • Strategic Development
  • Operations

The role carries a special responsibility for two specific grades G2/ G3 or G4/G5.

In addition to this, there will be mutually agreed whole Primary School focus and the possibility of a K12 area to lead or support in.

This list is not exhaustive and includes all other tasks as reasonably directed by the Principal and Head of Campus.

Person Specifications

  • A relevant degree and a recognized professional, Primary teaching qualification or certification are essential.
  • A higher degree is desirable.

The Primary School is looking for a strong educational leader with extensive Primary class teaching experience across the Primary age range.

The successful candidate will have

  • a minimum of 5 years experience
  • experience of successfully leading and managing teams
  • experience in a Primary leadership role would be advantageous

  • Understanding of the pedagogy of an agentic, inquiry-based learning environment.
  • Knowledge of international curricula, concept-based teaching, learning and assessment.

  • Ability to think strategically both independently and in a collaborative environment.
  • Honesty, integrity, compassion and a sense of humour.
  • Fluency in English and excellent communication skills: written, spoken and in presentations.
