Trainee Interactive Data Designer and Infographics Developer, EMTM Digital #SGUnitedTraineeship #SGU

As a Trainee, you will train with digital arm of English, Malay, Tamil Media group of SPH working alongside journalists, developers, designers and editors to create original digital content for our readers. 
You must have a strong portfolio of projects displaying your original visual story projects.  
As a trainee you will learn and shoulder responsibilities as below:

  
Come up with data visualisation design through interactive infographics
  
Creation of graphics requested by editors
  
Generate original ideas for graphics
  
Carry out investigative journalism/research with journalists using data, including conducting interviews and finding/verifying data sources
  
Demonstrate editorial judgement, creativity and flair
  
Work with front-end web developers to produce interesting and innovative visual stories
  
Use various statistics and data science tools for data parsing, scraping and wrangling
  
Manage workflow and process for visual stories in the newsroom
  
Use analytics to evaluate stories and propose changes to workflow, concepts. The ideal candidate is an experienced coder and a good designer

Some other key requirements are as below:

  
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, graphic design, data science, statistics, computer science strongly preferred
  
The ability to build projects in augmented reality and a desire to learn whatever technologies might come next is an advantage.
  
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  
Familiar with the latest digital storytelling trends
  
Experienced with one or more common databases, SQL, and/or scripting languages (R, Python)
  
Working knowledge of interactive data storytelling/visualization
  
Web infrastructure (JavaScript frameworks, including vue.js) an advantage
  
Have an eye for details and respect towards daily deadlines.
  
Comfortable to work 5 days across a 7-day workweek.
