Business Analyst - Part-Time

The Business Analyst plays a key role in bridging business objectives and technology solutions, with a strong emphasis on Java-based systems. This role is responsible for analysing business processes, translating requirements into functional and technical specifications, and working closely with development teams to support the delivery of robust, scalable solutions. The ideal candidate brings hands-on technical understanding, prior exposure to Java application development, and experience delivering projects in complex environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Gather, analyse, and document business and functional requirements through stakeholder interviews, workshops, and walkthroughs.
• Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications, supporting Java-based application development.
• Analyse existing business processes and systems, identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Work closely with Java developers, architects, and QA teams to clarify requirements, review designs, and support implementation.
• Develop and maintain artefacts such as BRDs, FSDs, user stories, process flows, and interface specifications.
• Support Agile and Waterfall delivery, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and change impact analysis.
• Facilitate stakeholder discussions to align on requirements, scope, and delivery approach.
• Support system testing, UAT, and post-implementation reviews, ensuring solutions meet business and technical expectations.
• Monitor delivery progress, manage risks and issues, and support timely project completion.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, or similar role.
• Prior technical or development background in Java (e.g. Java application development, system integration, or legacy-to-Java migration) would be preferred to have.
• Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and system architecture concepts.
• Hands-on experience with requirements documentation, data analysis, and system interfaces.
• Experience working in Agile and/or Waterfall environments.
• Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, BPMN/process mapping tools, and documentation standards.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both business stakeholders and technical teams.
• Experience with UAT planning and execution is essential.
• Exposure to government or large-scale enterprise systems is an advantage.
