QA Engineer (Merlyn Mind)

Merlyn Mind is a "Remote First" VC-backed AI EdTech startup that brings the latest advances in AI to Education to help improve the lives of teachers and ultimately the learning outcomes of their students. We have come together to build on a unified product experience for an extremely urgent mission – building a digital assistant for teachers, to untether teachers from the desk and help them with managing classroom technologies.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced QA Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and functionality of our software products by designing and executing test plans, identifying bugs, and working closely with the development team to resolve issues. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software testing methodologies, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Design and develop automated test cases for Android and web applications
• Set up and maintain testing environments using Android devkits and emulators
• Execute automated regression, functional, and performance tests
• Verify the functionality, usability, performance, and security of applications
• Conduct compatibility testing across different browsers and devices
• Analyze test results and identify areas for improvement in the application
• Collaborate with developers to resolve issues and improve product quality
• Experience in setting up and maintaining device farms

• Degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
• At least 3 years of experience in software testing, with emphasis on Android applications and web applications
• English, full professional proficiency
• Programming knowledge in languages such as Python, Kotlin, Java or JavaScript for developing automated test scripts
• Experience in test automation tools such as Selenium, Cypress, or TestComplete
• Experience using test management (Testrails) and bug tracking tools (JIRA)
• Experience in Android application testing: knowledge of the Android ecosystem, including different versions of the operating system and a variety of devices
• Automation tools: Experience with frameworks such as Appium, Espresso, or UI Automator to create and execute automated tests
• Experience with devkits and emulators: ability to configure and use Android SDK, emulators, and virtual devices for testing
• Familiarity with CI/CD: Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment to incorporate automated tests into the development workflow
