Programme Intern - Gender Identity, Gender Expression and Sex Characteristics (GIESC)

 This is an exciting opportunity to join ILGA World, the global LGBTI membership-based organisation with more than 1,600 member organisations in over 160 countries. Anyone with dedication to - and experience in regard to – human rights of and social justice for persons of diverse sexual orientations, gender identities, gender expressions and sex characteristics who meets the requirements set out in the application form is welcome to apply.
 
 The internship is a great opportunity for somebody who has an interest in human rights and LGBTI issues, and wants to gain experience in working for an international human rights organisation that represents LGBTI organisations, communities and movements on a global stage. It is aimed at LGBTI human rights activists who are at an early stage of their career.
  
 The internship is six-months long and will start in February 2021. The internship is virtual, and the intern can be based anywhere with good internet connection. The exact working hours and dates can be flexible, but a candidate should be available to work full-time (37.5 hours/week). The intern receives a financial compensation.

  The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks: 
 
  
 Support the SPO GIESC in developing the intersex portfolio of the organization
 
 Support SPO GIESC in organising key events such as the Trans Advocacy Week
 
 Work with SPO GIESC in developing GIESC-related research and dissemination initiatives.
 
 Work with and support ILGA World’s Trans and Intersex Committees and their Chairpersons
 
 Work with the SPO GIESC in organizing intersex related events
 
 Support trans and intersex activists in engaging with UN mechanisms such as Treaty Bodies, Special Procedures, UPR, HRC
 
 Supporting the Programmes Team staff in issues pertaining to gender identity/expression and sex characteristics
 
 Carrying out organizational and administrative tasks together with other UN Programme staff members.
