Payroll Specialist (Contract for 9-12 Months)

Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Are you a detail-oriented payroll professional with a passion for accuracy and process improvement? We are now partnering with an exciting and rapidly growing business, and we are looking for a Payroll Specialist to support their Edinburgh-based team during a major payroll system transformation. This is a contract role offering a unique opportunity to contribute to the successful implementation of a new ADP payroll system.

You’ll join a well-established payroll team of four, led by a long-tenured Payroll Manager, and play a key role in managing the weekly payroll for 200-250 site-based employees. You’ll also support monthly payroll processes for overhead staff and assist with parallel runs and testing of the new system.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and import weekly timesheets into the payroll system
• Liaise with regional teams to resolve discrepancies
• Calculate and process statutory sick pay, holiday pay, and other entitlements
• Respond to employee payroll queries via phone and email
• Balance payroll and prepare reports using Excel
• Upload pension contributions and process payroll deductions
• Support monthly payroll tasks and assist with P11D/benefits in kind
• Contribute to the parallel run and implementation of the new ADP system

Skills Required

• Proven experience in payroll administration
• Strong Excel skills
• Experience with P11Ds and benefits
• A proactive, logical thinker with excellent attention to detail
• A team player who is adaptable, approachable, and empathetic
