Job Description - 1-to-1 SEN Support

1-to-1 SEN Support

SA13

Pay from £12.82 per hour and £83.85 per day

Part time 10-15 hours per week - 5 days, 2-3 hours per day

We are looking for a flexible and patient teaching assistant to work in a local primary school supporting pupils with ALN (Additional Learning Needs). Experience, either professionally or personally, with ALN is vital. The primary school is mainstream and will cover the standard Welsh Curriculum; the hours in the day are usually allocated to the pupils in the lessons they struggle with the most, so this will vary for each pupil.

You will need to be flexible to work the required hours of the pupil that you’re supporting. The role is very fast-paced and will require you to be adaptable to pupils' needs and learn triggers and ways to help the pupils cope in class.

As you can appreciate, due to the needs of the pupils, consistency is key. Therefore, we are looking for individuals who are committed long-term to the role and can gain familiarity and routine with the pupils.

Responsibilities of a Teaching Assistant include:

  • Ensuring pupils are engaged and comfortable during lessons
  • Assisting in personal care tasks as needed (e.g., toileting and feeding)
  • Planning and implementing appropriate techniques to deal with challenging behaviour in pupils where appropriate
  • Participating in relevant training and courses as required

Requirements and qualifications:

  • Enhanced DBS (We can help you facilitate this)
  • Registration with the EWC (Education Workforce Council) (We can help you facilitate this)
  • Relevant experience, either personal or professional, in the SEN sector

The successful applicant will receive training and preparation for this opportunity. If you are interested in joining Teaching Personnel, please apply below with your CV. Once shortlisted, we will call to discuss the role and next steps.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position, but in some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available later.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’; this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance is provided.
