Role: Assistant Buyer

Location: Warrington, Spalding or London, Hybrid (1-or-2 days per week in office)

Employment Type: Permanent

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Buyer to join our team and support our goal of sourcing the finest ingredients, balancing quality and cost-effectiveness. In this role, you’ll develop a deep understanding of our products, customers, and supply chain while managing procurement for select categories and contributing to our mission of delivering high-quality meals.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the Lead Category / Category Buyers with the implementation of strategic plans and buying initiatives
• Source & analyse internal and external information to support negotiations and new product development
• Manage your own categories, suppliers and tenders
• Use your analytical skills to model and analyse data to determine the impact on Gousto, including cost reviews
• Support the team and other functions through the tender process by working cross-functionally to ensure the correct legal documentation is in place and Food Technical has the necessary information to approve products where needed
• Develop supplier improvement plans in line with SLA
• Working with the buyers to update supplier forecasts and analyse contract uptake.  Communicating any issues to the relevant team
• Ensure suppliers are aware of Gousto demand forecast and any specific activities
• Be able to confidently communicate with the supplier and challenge in a calm & considered manner within the required time frame using the appropriate communication methods

WHO YOU ARE

• Experience working in a commercial environment within procurement/planning/sales
• Good commercial acumen
• Good numeracy and data analysis skills.  Have the ability to use advanced Excel functions, e.g. pivot tables & v.lookups
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills  
• Be brilliant at looking at detail and highly organised
• You must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to juggle multiple tasks at the same time
• Collaborative / stakeholder management skills
