About the Role
A forward‑thinking engineering manufacturer in Wiltshire is seeking a Machine Setup Technician to join its skilled production team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands‑on, technical environment and enjoys working alongside experienced operators to ensure the safe, efficient and accurate operation of advanced tooling machinery.
You will play a key role in supporting manufacturing processes by setting up equipment, inspecting high‑value components, and maintaining the precision standards required for high‑performance engineering.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup & Operation Assist in the preparation and set up tooling machinery for daily production runs. Support operators with safe operation and changeovers of equipment. Conduct routine checks to ensure machines are operating within required parameters.
Inspection & Quality Control
Perform visual inspection of high‑value metals and engineered components. Identify non‑conformities, defects, wear or damage in parts and tooling. Monitor component quality throughout the manufacturing process. Use precision measurement tools including gauges, verniers, calipers and micrometers to verify accuracy and tolerances.
Maintenance & Safety
Carry out regular machinery maintenance, including lubrication checks and basic adjustments. Ensure all equipment is operated safely and in line with engineering procedures. Report issues promptly and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills and Experience
Experience in precision engineering or mainstream manufacturing. Strong interest in engineering, mechanical processes and tooling. Familiarity with measurement and inspection tools. Ability to follow technical instructions and maintain high accuracy.
Desirable
Formal engineering education or a completed apprenticeship in a related field. Exposure to tooling, machining or component inspection environments. Understanding of quality standards and manufacturing best practice.
