Position Description

  • Executes planning and purchasing activities for materials and commodities, as assigned.
  • Schedules purchased materials within inventory targets to meet the production schedules.
  • Maintains quality product on standards: reviews and recommends improvements to by evaluating production, production lot failures with Quality Control, Systems Engineering/Science Team.
  • Maintains Approved Supplier List (ASL) with coordination to Quality and Engineering.
  • Negotiates with suppliers using quotes/proposals (RFQ/RFP) and selects best source consistent with cost, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Act as a liaison between suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement related problems.
  • Proactively resolve material, packing list, certs, and quantity discrepancies with suppliers.
  • Assists with the packaging and logistics of materials inbound and outbound.
  • Negotiates cost improvements and manages supply chain to insure highest compliance to quality requirements.
  • Executes processes and methods as developed by Operations/Manufacturing Teams, reviews product and completes documentation; ensures no unqualified processes are released to production.

Position Requirements

  • Analyze ERP data; investigate material/quality issues; identify solutions; recommending actions.
  • Communicates and manages change order processing with suppliers.
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
  • Comply with policies, guidelines and regulatory requirements per the Quality Management System.
  • Responsible for Supplier Quality communicating non-conforming reports (SNCR), Supplier Corrective Actions and Reports (SCAR), and notice of changes from the change order process.
  • Works independently, and develops approaches to problems with proposed solutions.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned.

Personal Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in related field with 1-3 years of purchasing/planning/inventory; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1-3 years of purchasing/inventory/planning experience.
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly in writing and orally, and to interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.
  • Must have excellent problem solving, organizational, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
  • Has experience with planning and purchasing under FDA, ISO13485, GDP, GLP and GMP environments.
  • Proficient computer skills; i.e. Microsoft Office Suite.
