Summary: A Tool & Die Maker analyzes specifications, lay out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’’ hand tools by performing the following duties.

 

Factory hours are Mon-Thurs 6:00am to 4:30pm

Tuition Reimbursement, 401k, Medical, Dental, 

-Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.

-Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.

-Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining.

-Builds, modifies, and repairs progressive dies.

-Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machine, shaper, and grinder, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.

-Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.

-Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part.

-Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product.

-Complies with safety regulations and maintains clean and orderly work areas.

-Education and/or Experience: Completion of an apprenticeship (4 years) or completion of Machinist’s Training, Tool and Die Certificate, or Advanced Manufacturing Certificate, followed by at least 4 years of on-the-job training.

-Required Tools: Ability to provide, maintain, and obtain own tools. -

-Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

-Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

-Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

-Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. End users for our products typically fit into a classification of being original equipment manufacturers (OEM). This type of manufacturing, termed electronic packaging and production, is considered a light industry and usually involves an end product based upon an electronic or electrical design, with the end product designed to meet requirements in industries such as appliance manufacturing, automotive electronics, communications, computers, consumer electronics, electronic components, industrial controls, medical electronics and office and business equipment.

 

Over the years the company’s products have developed into a broad range of interconnection hardware items, such as lugs, clips and splices, electronic and electrical wiring devices for printed circuit board interconnections and packaging, such as quick disconnect terminals, pins, posts, test points, IDC’s, sockets, solder lugs and screw terminals. In addition to our full line of terminals and connectors the company also offers a full range of automatic application equipment which is used by the end user to produce finished products. The company maintains its headquarters, including manufacturing and design facilities, in New York’s Westchester County. The regional sales offices are located in New York, Minnesota and Ireland.
