Primary Responsibilities:

The Landscape Superintendent will oversee day-to-day operations on site at Ponce City Market. They will be tasked with the daily maintenance of planted material and turf spaces across the property. In addition, trash and debris from planted areas of the property should be removed. Make sure all plant material is healthy and take action to mitigate and treat diseases found in plant material. Regular pruning and deadheading of plant material will be performed at the correct times depending on species-specific needs. Pruning will be done to designated contract specifications. Implement a watering schedule via the irrigation controller and hand watering containers on the property. Repair broken and damaged irrigation lines and sprinkler heads to preserve healthy plant material. Apply fertilizer to plant material at designated times throughout the year. The Superintendent will acquire and install shrubs and flowers if the material must be replaced. Replacements will only be purchased and installed after Jamestown’s approval is received from Engineering Management.

• Direct part-time helpers and allocate tasks for them to complete safely and efficiently. Utilize the assistant to help complete larger projects on the property. Mentor the assistant to further develop their knowledge of horticultural practices and Crabapple's core values.
• Prepare biweekly reports of on-site work.
• Direct and schedule tasks for the weekly roaming maintenance crew. Communicate with the Crabapple Operations Management team about the tasks crews will be performing and the equipment needed to complete tasks effectively.
• Communicate with the Crabapple Client Relations Manager (CRM) regarding issues with property and project status, both present and future.
• Communicate with Crabapple Enhancements, lawncare, and Irrigation departments, visiting the property and associated management.
• Work with Crabapple colleagues to coordinate the logistics of on-site larger projects. Ensure that jobs are completed professionally and safely.
• Provide pricing estimates to Jamestown Management for replacement plant material and small projects.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to provide logistical support and ensure projects are completed safely, professionally, and efficiently.
• Ensure that contractual obligations regarding maintenance and services are upheld.

Requirements

• Driver’s license
• Landscape/Horticultural management 4+ years.
• Proficient English both written and spoken.
• Estimation experience.
• Plant Installation Experience
• Extensive knowledge of plants and horticultural practices.

• Experience working with irrigation systems and repairs.
• Experience mixing fungicides and pesticides i.e. Dilution rates.
• Experience fungicide and pesticides application.
• Experienced team leader.
• Basic computer skills include email and Microsoft Office.
• Experience using 2cycle equipment to include (but not limited to) Gas Shears, Chainsaw and Chainsaw. In addition to the use of hand tools to include saws, shears, pole trimmers and pruners.

Work Conditions/ Essential Functions:

• Will be required to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
• Ability to walk and / or stand for long periods of time.
• Manual, labor intensive position, requiring lifting of up to 50 lbs.
• Required to work around heavy equipment and other vehicles on a regular basis.
