Our client, a locally owned manufacturing company in Peosta, IA, is seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on accountant to lead key financial operations—including costing, weekly payroll, and month-end close. This role bridges tactical execution and strategic finance, with a clear path to leadership.

What You’ll Do
In this role, you'll take ownership of key accounting functions while helping shape the financial future of the company. Here's a look at what you'll be doing day to day:
- Financial Oversight & Reporting
- Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for business units
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure balance sheet accuracy
- Maintain GAAP compliance and strong internal controls
- Analyze operations to spot trends, risks, and profitability opportunities
- Payroll & Compliance
- Process weekly payroll for two companies (wages, bonuses, deductions)
- Ensure compliance with all payroll regulations
- Keep organized, audit-ready payroll records and documentation
- Cost Accounting & Efficiency Improvements
- Analyze cost data for labor, materials, and overhead
- Support job costing and cost-saving efforts across business units
- Monitor standard costs and variances to guide financial decisions
- Strategic Collaboration
- Work closely with the CFO on financial strategy and process alignment
- Collaborate with business leaders to provide financial insights and reporting
- Identify and implement process improvements and tech-driven efficiencies
- Additional Responsibilities
- Help shape and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Stay up to date on tax laws, compliance, and industry standards
- Assist with other duties, new initiatives, and special projects as needed

What You Bring

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience (manufacturing, construction or shared services a plus)
- Solid understanding of US GAAP and general ledger systems
- Comfortable owning payroll, cost accounting, and internal controls
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms
Work Environment & Schedule
- Location: On-site at the Peosta, IA office
- Schedule: Monday–Friday with flexible hours between 7 AM and 5 PM
- Travel: Minimal - occasional visits to affiliated locations
