About this role

The Investor Relations Manager is responsible for carrying out Newmont’s Investor Relations strategy specifically as it relates to investor targeting, market analysis and sell-side analyst engagement. This role is integral in crafting tools for identifying target shareholders and ultimate input into Newmont’s overall shareholder engagement strategy. The role will build data models that provide management with crucial shareholder analysis, market valuation and peer analysis. The role will also be a critical piece of delivering the quarterly earnings process including crafting vital content and being QA/QC on all earnings materials. Retail investor engagement will be a primary responsibility as Newmont increases engagement on this all too meaningful area.
This person must demonstrate the ability to think “like an investor” and provide data from sophisticated models to support recommendations. Fundamentals for owning Gold and Gold Mining stocks is a must as this will be the “advisor” to IR leadership on the strategy.

In this role you will

Here is a snapshot of what your day to day will look like:

  • Investor Targeting
  • We compile listing of shareholder targeting; support listing with executive leadership team as a member developing Newmont’s strategy
  • Provide details of target investors including analysis of history of gold investments, funds handled, etc.
  • We analyze shareholder makeup including key buys / sells, trends, and other information vital to educate leadership on shareholder base
  • We find opportunities to introduce creative thought into Newmont’s investor outreach strategy
  • Maintain and run Investor Relations Tools in IHS, Bloomberg, etc. and provide data requests as vital
  • We engage with investors as requested
  • Market Analysis
  • Reviewing and summarizing relevant equity, economic and commodity market research
  • We assist with weekly, monthly and quarterly data gathering for internal reporting
  • Maintain analyst model for Newmont target pricing and consensus modeling
  • We establish a basis for understanding macro impacts on gold price
  • Quarterly Earnings
  • Support the quarterly earnings process by handling vital results across functions
  • We work directly with Leadership to develop key messages relative to the Company’s strategy and operational and financial performance each quarter
  • Assist in creation of quarterly materials and perform QA/QC on all documents
  • We prepare board reporting results as needed
  • Retail Investor Engagement
  • We implement the retail engagement strategy with thoughtful outreach, messaging and timely and accurate responses to Newmont’s retail investor base
  • Prepare reporting on retail investor base and changes throughout the year
  • Peer Analysis
  • We provide leadership with peer analysis including differentiating metrics, news alerts, etc.

Your training, skills and experience checklist

Here is what we would need to see from you!
Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance or accounting
  • Advance degree, MBA, CFA or CPA preferred
  • Knowledge of IFRS and/or U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP). Costing and budgeting concepts and techniques are preferred but not required

Experience:

  • 5+ years in Finance related field
  • Skills and Abilities:
  • High potential individual with high level of assertiveness and motivation
  • Strong ability to analyze financial models and understand sophisticated finance topics
  • Outstanding skills with finance systems and tools (Bloomberg, Excel, Reuters, etc.)
  • Must be detail oriented and ability to clearly articulate complex ideas
  • Must be able to work independently and support multiple individuals

  • Travel may be required for conference attendance
