OVERVIEW
The Gallery Operations Intern will support the Interpretation Operations team at The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis by contributing to the planning and execution of exhibit-related educational and interpretive activities. The intern will assist with operational coordination for programs and exhibits while gaining experience in guest-facing interpretation roles and learning STEM interpretation programs as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the distribution and organization of incoming costumes, props, and supplies for interpretation programs.
Research costumes and supplies for upcoming exhibits, including All Aboard and WinterFaire 26.
Support guest-facing interpretation roles, such as Playscape Greeter, Mission Control Team Takeover assistant, informal interpretation programming, and exhibit maintenance walks.
Learn and support STEM interpretation programs as needed.
Assist with other interpretation and operations tasks as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Completion of at least 1 year of college coursework.
Preferred majors or fields of study include Theater, Museum Studies, Operations-focused programs, or related disciplines.
Experience working with children preferred, but not required.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Ability to take initiative, think creatively, and problem-solve.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word.
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
Enthusiasm for learning new skills and gaining experience in a museum environment.
ADA REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout the Museum galleries for extended periods, with reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to lift, carry, and move materials such as costumes, props, and supplies, with reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and guests, with reasonable accommodation.
Must be able to use standard office and computer equipment, with reasonable accommodation.
