A security guard will essentially be responsible for maintaining the safety of all the high-rise building residents. Responsibilities include being extremely detail-oriented and alert throughout the day regarding the movements in and out of the building. They also have the responsibility of efficient coordination of the car parking area and ensuring the proper, timely functioning of other building facilities via coordinating with the concerned authorities. They might also be required to do some heavyweight work such as helping residents to carry their extra belongings as and when necessary. It is preferred that they are well-informed and trained in weapon use. Overall, they should be a smart and active person committed to the cause of creating a safe environment. The work of a security guard requires high focus and huge sense of responsibility. The security guard is expected to work in close cooperation with the other staff, and must be diligent in his service.
It is expected that a security guard will perform the following duties:
● Regularly patrol the building premises
● Promptly report any suspicious activity to the higher authorities
● In addition to the scheduled checks, perform surprise checks at potentially sensitive spots inside the premises to check for security breaches.
● Assist people who might be needing help in the building, irrespective of their age
● Check the identity cards and the bags of unknown visitors entering the building, and record their names in the visitor sheet
● Ensure that the residents are parking their cars in their allotted spaces
● Promptly respond with force, if necessary in the event of a burglary and the like.
● Coordinate with higher authorities, if necessary in case of disrupted functioning of building facilities like water supply
The preferable qualifications are:
● 5+ years of experience working in this field
● Licensed in gun use and trained in self-defense
● A history of efficiently dealing with life-threatening situations
● Must be responsible and should ensure every member of the house is safe
● If needed, should be ready for night duty as well
