2027 Upper Gastrointestinal Research Fellow
Eastern Health
Eastern Health is one of Melbourne’s largest public health services. We provide a range of emergency, surgical, medical and general healthcare services and have a proud history of serving a diverse community.
Our Employee Value Proposition is “Being a part of Eastern Health means belonging to a welcoming team of healthcare experts”.
This statement aligns with our promise to our communities, patients, consumers and staff that we will be HEALTHIER TOGETHER. Bolder than a vision for the future, our promise calls us to action. We know that working together is the only way we can achieve what is necessary for a healthier future.
About the role
This position is ideally suited to a junior surgical fellow who is looking to further develop their research portfolio and strengthen their academic profile in preparation for future subspecialty training in Upper Gastrointestinal (UGI) or Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) surgery.
Working collaboratively with the existing UGI/HPB team, the successful candidate will play an active role in coordinating and progressing a range of research projects, while also providing mentorship and support to medical students and surgical registrars involved in these initiatives.
In addition to the research component, the fellowship offers valuable clinical exposure through attendance at a variety of UGI and HPB operating lists. There will also be opportunities to provide clinical fellow cover when required, as well as undertaking private assisting, offering further operative experience and professional development.
As with all fellows within the department, the successful applicant will be expected to participate in the unit's on-call roster, including responsibilities for general surgical admissions, contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care as part of the broader surgical team.
