Introduction
Komatsu South Africa is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organised Accounts Officer: Cashbooks & Asset Register to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for maintaining cashbooks, processing EFT payments, performing account reconciliations, and administering the fixed asset register. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and effective reporting within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Cashbook & Account Reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger and bank accounts.
- Allocate and analyse expense accounts and cashbook payments.
- Monitor and clear reconciled items according to company procedures.
- Analyse provisions, accruals, and expense accounts.
- Assist with daily cash flow management and reporting.
- Investigate and resolve account discrepancies and queries.
Accounts Payable & EFT Payments
- Process EFT payments for suppliers and operational units.
- Verify source documentation, purchase orders, invoices, GRVs, and approvals.
- Load payments onto banking platforms and facilitate approval processes.
- Maintain cashbook records and clear suspense accounts.
- Monitor payment schedules and provide proof of payment to stakeholders.
- Liaise with internal departments to resolve payment-related queries.
Asset Register Administration
- Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
- Process asset additions, transfers, and disposals.
- Verify supporting documentation and approvals for capital expenditure.
- Reconcile asset-related balance sheet accounts.
- Monitor capital expenditure against approved budgets.
- Coordinate fixed asset verification processes with stakeholders.
- Prepare fixed asset reports and variance analyses.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- 3-Year Diploma in Accounting or equivalent qualification.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years' relevant accounting experience.
- Experience in:
- Cashbook management and account reconciliations.
- Accounts payable and EFT payment processing.
- Fixed asset register administration.
- VAT allocations and reporting.
- SAP financial systems.
Knowledge & Skills
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
- Basic Microsoft Word proficiency.
- Working knowledge of:
- SAP General Ledger and Asset Register modules.
- VAT legislation.
- Banking and EFT payment systems.
- Companies Administrative Regulations.
- Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX/JSOX) compliance principles.
