Job Description - COMBINED 3-4 YR OLD KINDER TEACHER/ EDUCATIONAL LEADER/NOMINATED SUPERVISOR

We are seeking an enthusiastic Early Childhood Teacher/Educational Leader/Nominated Supervisor to join our small team at Coonara Community House Early Learning Centre (a not-for-profit kindergarten). Coonara Early Learning Centre is a community based not for profit organisation which has been delivering high quality childcare for kinder and occasional care for over 40 years.

This is a great leadership opportunity where you will inspire and drive the educational program and practices through mentoring and providing professional development to Educators. This great opportunity allows you to work three days as a Teacher working in our combined 3YO-4YO group, plus 1 day off the floor, completing Educational Leader/Nominated Supervisor tasks.

This position can be casual or permanent-part time. A total of 26 hours per week as follows - 

  • 22.5 hours per week | Contact hours: 15 hours - Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 9.15am – 2.15pm. | Non-Contact hours: 4.5hrs                             
  •  Educational Leader/Nominated Supervisor coordination hours – 6.5 hours – Fridays (times negotiable)
  • 2 hours meeting time per term (additional hours)

What you will do:

  • Develop educational programs in line with Regulation 73 of the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with parents, families, Educators and the local community to provide an inclusive and enriching play-based learning program for children
  • Be a pedagogical leader who can help strengthen a solid philosophy around the Coonara Community House and Early Learning Centre’s community values and beliefs.
  • Meet the requirements of Coonara Early Learning Centre’s Policies and Procedures along with the Department requirements.
  • Provide clear goals for teaching and learning to the education team
  • Provide expert insight to inspire co-educators to strive for continuous improvement
  • Continue the development and ongoing implementation and review of the centres Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Develop and implement SRF Plans.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the curriculum in collaborating with educators to maximise each child’s development and learning
  • Support educators to assess each child’s learning and development 
  • Contribute to child safe environment ensuring standards are met on a daily basis 
  • Work with other staff towards continuous improvement in all areas

To be considered for the role of Combined 3-4 Year-old Kinder Teacher/Educational Leader/Nominated Supervisor you will have:

  • Bachelor in Early Childhood Education or ACECAQ equivalent
  • Current VIT full or provisional registration
  • Proven knowledge of the National Quality Framework
  • Thorough understanding of the Victorian Early Years Learning & Development Framework (VEYLDF), National Quality Standards (NQS) and the National Regulations
  • Thorough understanding of the accreditation process
  • At least 2+ years’ experience as an ECT (highly desirable)
  • Current Level 2 First aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis and Asthma Certificates.
  • Mandatory Reporting Certificate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of Child Safe Standards and Child Protection 
  • Passion about Early Childhood Development and the importance of high-quality Early Years programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that will enable effective interactions with the service's various stakeholders. 
  • The ability to develop strong relationships with children and families
  • Demonstrated high level of ethical and professional behaviour, including confidentiality and team work
  • Commitment to your own ongoing professional development in early childhood
