The Smith Family is a national children’s education charity that works with children and young people to overcome educational inequality caused by poverty – so they can thrive now and into their futures.

We are seeking a highly organised and analytical Data Specialist to join our Learning for Life Customer Support and Administration team. This newly created role will play a critical part in working with complex data, undertaking analysis, reporting and set up of activity undertaken by the team, as well as completing complex data entry.

About the role

As the Data Specialist, you will support the delivery of Learning for Life scholarships and programs through the management, analysis and maintenance of operational data. You will work across multiple systems to ensure information is accurate, reliable and fit for purpose, while identifying trends, anomalies and opportunities for improvement.

Working as part of the national Learning for Life Customer Support and Administration team, you will:

• Analyse operational data to identify trends, risks, anomalies and service delivery issues


• Validate, reconcile and maintain data integrity across multiple systems


• Manage data imports, exports and system processing activities


• Monitor service level agreements and support reporting requirements


• Undertake complex data entry and record maintenance activities


• Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and data quality


• Support special projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:

• Experience managing, analysing and interpreting complex datasets to identify trends, anomalies, risks or opportunities, and using findings to support operational outcomes and decision-making


• Experience maintaining data integrity through validation, cleansing, reconciliation and quality assurance activities across multiple systems


• Strong technical capability using databases, CRMs and information systems to manage, process and maintain information, including working across multiple systems and technologies

• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy


• Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills


• Confidence working with large volumes of data and competing priorities


• Strong digital literacy and the ability to quickly learn new systems
