DBA | Data base Administrator | Db2 | z/OSPOSITION PURPOSE:The Senior Application Database Administrator will maintain the performance, reliability, and security of our DB2/SQL databases, while also planning and implementing upgrades, managing CICS services, and performing critical database maintenance tasks. The role will actively engage with Application Support, Cloud, and Development teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of our Vehicle Registration and Driver Licensing applications. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Comply with the business' privacy and data security requirements and prevent and/or mitigate privacy and data security risk within own work area.
Work collaboratively to prevent and/or mitigate fraud and corruption risks to the business, including undertaking required training, complying with policies and processes, identifying and reporting suspected fraud and corruption or vulnerabilities and exposure, implementing controls, behaving ethically and promoting a culture of integrity.
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES:Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field, or demonstrated experience in the field. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:Core Database Expertise
Extensive hands-on experience administering IBM Db2 databases in enterprise environments.
Strong understanding of Db2 architecture, storage structures, buffer pools, tablespaces, and indexing strategies.
Experience with Db2 performance tuning, query optimization, and workload management.
Expertise in database monitoring, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Platform & Environment Experience
Experience managing Db2 on Linux/Unix/Windows (LUW) and/or Db2 on z/OS environments.
Hands-on experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS for Db2/SQL, Azure, or IBM Cloud.
Familiarity with high availability and disaster recovery solutions including HADR, replication, backup and restore strategies.
Experience working with large-scale, mission-critical production systems.
Database Operations & Administration
Experience in installation, configuration, upgrades, patching, and migrations of Db2/SQL environments.
Expertise in backup/recovery procedures, database maintenance utilities, and capacity planning.
Experience managing security, roles, privileges, and compliance controls.
Ability to automate administrative tasks using scripts or automation tools.
Professional Experience:
Typically 8+ years of experience in database administration with significant focus on IBM Db2.
Experience supporting enterprise applications and high-availability production environments.
Strong collaboration skills working with developers, infrastructure teams, and architects.
Preferred Qualifications:
IBM Db2 and MS SQL certifications or equivalent database certifications.
Experience with cloud-native database deployments and container platforms (e.g., Kubernetes/OpenShift).
Exposure to database automation, observability platforms, and enterprise monitoring tools.
