Role Information - Director Workplace Relations


Location: 750 Collins Street, Docklands


Employment Type: Full-Time


Duration: Ongoing


Remuneration: $220,000 total package (including employer superannuation contributions)

The Opportunity


Workplace Relations is responsible for management, advice and insight on employee and industrial relations matters relating to the College’s operations, including through lenses of strategic execution, governance, risk management, operational excellence and commercial discipline.


 


In collaboration with the Executive Director People Culture and Communication will lead the review, design and implement changes to the industrial relations framework including through enterprise bargaining to deliver to the College strategic objectives.





Key Responsibilities




  • Lead the development of enterprise bargaining strategy, analysis and negotiations for the College Enterprise Agreements (EAs) ensuring a compliant bargaining process, and lead effective operationalisation of new EAs.




  • Assess applicability and adoption of relevant Awards and ensure effective implementation.




  • Lead workplace relations matters including investigations, dispute management, including providing advice and recommendations to senior leaders on risks and resolution to matters.




  • Provide expert advice and guide the business on complex queries about the interpretation and application of People andCulture policies and procedures, employment contracts, relevant legislation and industrial instruments.




  • Lead and contribute to a variety of  projects through a People and Culture risk, compliance and change impact lens and support the commercial and strategic priorities of the College.




  • Work with the  Workplace Relations Manager, HR Business Partnering and client stakeholders to ensure effective management of employee relations cases (performance, conduct, grievances, investigations, ill and injured employees).




 


About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:




  • Tertiary qualifications in industrial relations, law, human resources or other relevant degree.




  • Post graduate qualifications in Business Management or other relevant discipline (desirable)




  • 5+ years in working in industrial relations in a complex or unionised environment.




  • 7+ years’ experience in workplace relations including in a leadership capacity.




  • Proven track record in leading or playing a central role in the successful negotiation and operationalisation of Enterprise Agreements.
