We’re looking for confident, compassionate Enrolled Nurses who thrive in fast‑paced clinical environments and are passionate about supporting people through safe, structured withdrawal.

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely.

As an EN in our service, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high‑quality clinical care, monitoring physical and mental health, and guiding clients through their recovery journey — all within a supportive, culturally responsive, values‑driven environment.

Shifts Available

  • Morning: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Afternoon: 3:00 PM – 11:30 PM

The role:

The Salvos are one of Australia’s leading AOD service providers, offering withdrawal management, residential rehabilitation, harm‑reduction programs, and holistic support. Our work is grounded in dignity, compassion, and evidence‑based practice — giving people a safe place to stabilise, heal, and rebuild.

How You’ll Make an Impact

You will deliver person‑centred, recovery‑focused nursing care by:

  • Conducting clinical assessments, interventions, and monitoring aligned with:
    • Queensland Alcohol and Drug Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines
    • Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Clinical Practice Guidelines
    • Recovery Services Policy & Procedures
    • TSA values and policies
  • Working closely with on‑site and visiting medical officers
  • Administering and dispensing medications for withdrawal management
  • Managing admissions, discharges, and clinical handovers
  • Maintaining accurate, timely documentation
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and evidence‑based practice

What You’ll Bring

  • Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience (mental health experience highly regarded)
  • Strong understanding of withdrawal management and clinical guidelines
  • Blue Card (mandatory for Townsville & Mount Isa)
  • Driver’s Licence (preferred)
  • Confident assessment, triage, decision‑making, and crisis‑response skills
