About the Office

Campus Infrastructure and Facilities deliver comprehensive property and facilities management operations to the University community by using integrated systems and services to support the University’s teaching and learning, research endeavours and strategic objectives.
 
About the role

The role is responsible for overseeing planned and reactive maintenance, building services, and statutory compliance while fostering strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners across UNDA. It manages hard and soft maintenance service contracts for Sydney campuses and Clinical Schools, establishing KPIs, service levels, and contract management including the development of facilities maintenance standards and design guidance. The position also requires on-call availability for after-hours emergencies and flexibility to travel interstate when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage maintenance services, systems, and contracts across all building and facility assets, ensuring statutory compliance, high service standards, and effective contractor performance.
  • Lead and coordinate the maintenance team by prioritising workloads, allocating resources, and delivering operational outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Oversee budgets, monitor expenditure, and implement controls to ensure maintenance programs and projects are delivered within financial allocations.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on contractor KPIs, risk profiles, and asset performance, providing recommendations and driving continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver customer-focused services aligned with the University’s strategic goals and values.
  • Support sustainability initiatives, emergency and business continuity planning, and manage security systems including access control, CCTV, and safety inspections.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • Completion of a postgraduate qualification relevant to the field of construction, with experience in maintenance, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and training.
  • Completion of a tertiary qualification relevant to facilities management and/or substantial relevant experience in facilities management.
  • More than five years of experience in facilities and maintenance management, including planned and corrective maintenance, life cycle management, and asset management of complex building services.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract management and administration, including managing external service providers within approved budgets and timeframes.
  • Sound understanding of Australian Standards, Acts, Codes, and Regulations related to building and statutory compliance.
  • Proven ability to prepare reports, tenders, and submissions for management, supported by strong analytical and communication skills.
