Forward Deployed Engineer - I

Job Description - Forward Deployed Engineer - I

Description

Asia’s leading robotics solutions provider, automating enterprise supply chains since 2017. We build syncOS — the industry-first no-code platform that lets manufacturers and warehouse operators integrate, reprogram, and scale automation systems without halting production or calling in specialists. Our autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) run 24/7 for global brands — transforming production lines in hours, not weeks.

Australia is a growing deployment market for Botsync’s AMR fleet, with customers running live automation across facilities that need dedicated on-site engineering support.

What does Success look like:

Success in this role is measured by commissioning quality and speed: automation systems installed, validated, and handed over to full operational readiness on schedule, with proactive issue identification and strong customer satisfaction through the hypercare phase.

Key Responsibilities:

Deployment and commissioning

  • Oversee the installation and activation of automation systems at customer locations
  • Conduct thorough system and safety checks to ensure compliance with regulations and optimize performance
  • Document commissioning processes and maintain detailed records, including deployment details, checklists, photos, and SAT reports
  • Perform preventive maintenance of systems every quarter and replace components if necessary

Troubleshooting and support

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to AMRs, ROS navigation, PLCs, and associated software
  • Coordinate with the remote support team for an efficient handover of projects during the hypercare phase
  • Predict and notify the team lead of any safety issues to be addressed on-site, ensuring a proactive approach
  • Participate in monthly KT sessions on version upgrades and bug fixes

Customer engagement and reporting

  • Provide comprehensive training to customer personnel on AMR operations and maintenance procedures
  • Develop relations with customer’s operations or maintenance teams
  • Update weekly reports regularly, highlighting progress, challenges, and resolutions
  • Identify and propose potential improvements to AMR performance and user experience

Requirements

Essential

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Computer, Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical, or a related field)
  • Hands-on experience with AMRs, ROS / ROS2, PLCs, or similar automation technologies
  • Ability to work independently in on-site, customer-facing environments
  • Willingness to travel frequently to customer sites as required
  • Full working rights in Australia

Highly desirable

  • Exposure to industrial safety and compliance checks in a manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated hardware and software systems in the field

Benefits
  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive health benefits package
  • Hustle of a young startup, always something to do and something to improve
  • Opportunities for professional development and growth into management roles
  • Collaborative and inclusive work environment
