Physiotherapist
An exciting opportunity exists for a Grade 2 physiotherapist with a passion for rehabilitation to work in the Community Rehabilitation Program at the Peter James Centre, Burwood East.
About the role
Community Rehabilitation is a time‑limited, goal‑oriented program designed to enhance clients’ health, functional independence, and participation within their community. The successful applicant will join a large interdisciplinary team and contribute to the delivery of both home‑based and centre‑based rehabilitation services, including group exercise, education programs, and aquatic physiotherapy.
The role is supported by a collaborative and experienced team, with regular clinical supervision provided by the Senior Clinician (Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist) and operational guidance from the Team Leader. This structured support ensures high‑quality clinical practice and ongoing professional development.
The position requires the ability to work autonomously in community settings while actively contributing to the broader interdisciplinary team. Engagement in teaching, training, research, and quality improvement activities is an essential component of the role.
About you
As a Grade 2 Physiotherapist in the Community Rehabilitation Program, you will manage a high caseload of musculoskeletal and general rehabilitation clients. You’ll demonstrate collaborative interdisciplinary care, work with a culturally and socially diverse client population, and apply holistic, person‑centered assessment and management approaches. The role also includes leading the aquatic group program, supervising undergraduate physiotherapy students, and providing effective clinical supervision to Grade 1 physiotherapists.
This position requires strong clinical reasoning and leadership skills to manage and deliver the aquatic group program. Responsibilities include coordinating and delivering group‑based aquatic rehabilitation, supporting learning for junior staff and students, representing the program in the Aquatic Clinical Leadership Group, and contributing to education and service development.
