About the role

The position will be designated Monash Health as one of the key stakeholders with the aim to advance the recommendations of the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System (RCVMHS) in Eastern region of Victoria (Monash), through provision of clinical support, education and engagement. The goal of these activities will be to grow stakeholder’s clinical staff capacity to manage co-occurring disorders. Co-location with stakeholder agency will be the preferred mode of service delivery. The role will support the development of in-house integrated treatment capacity and related initiatives that are responsive to local needs. The Hamilton Centre Eastern Registered Nurse (HCERN) role will oversee all aspects of the process of increasing clinician skills, through working with the Hamilton Centre East team as the clinician in the field or off-site liaising with management and existing local co-occurring disorder champions and portfolio holders to establish service strengths and identify service gaps and opportunities. 

About you 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

• Registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency


• At least 4 years’ experience working in the AOD/mental health sector as a nurse consultant


• Post graduate qualifications in AOD/MH


• Willingness to implement a hybrid (F2F or virtual) model of care where indicated


• Presentation experience


• Experience in implementing new projects and stakeholder engagement


• Demonstrated understanding of Harm Minimisation and Recovery Frameworks within the context of 
  the alcohol and drug sector


• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing advanced assessments, counselling and the 
  clinical management of alcohol and drug withdrawal


• Demonstrated knowledge and experience in co-morbidity assessment, relapse prevention, 
  motivational interviewing and brief intervention sessions

Healthcare workers are strongly recommended to follow COVID vaccination recommendations provided in the Australian Immunisation handbook (based on ATAGI advice). Seasonal vaccination against influenza is a mandatory requirement of this role and an offer is conditional on this being up to date prior to employment.

Those that are offered and/or start between January and April do not require an up to date vaccination for Influenza to progress providing they are aware of its requirement later in the year. Those that are offered and/or start between May and December require the up-to-date Influenza vaccination prior to offer.
