Job Description:

Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Orthopaedics business to establish a standalone orthopaedics company, operating as DePuy Synthes. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 18 to 24 months, subject to legal requirements, including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as may be required, regulatory approvals and other customary conditions and approvals. Should you accept this position, it is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, you would be an employee of DePuy Synthes and your employment would be governed by DePuy Synthes employment processes, programs, policies, and benefit plans. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to you by DePuy Synthes at an appropriate time and subject to any necessary consultation processes.​

DePuy Synthes is recruiting for Senior Manager, Health Economics Market Access , located in Sydney/Melbourne, Australia.

Key Responsibilities Areas 

  • Compile the pricing and reimbursement strategy aligned to health technology assessment inclusive of health economic models, respective analytical economic reports for HTA applications and economic negotiations per market access projects for DePuy Synthes Platforms & Portfolio, Orthopaedic Procedures within the ANZ Healthcare Environment. 
  • Manage both external and internal consultants with the development of economic modelling tools; cost-effectiveness models, budget impact models and field-based value calculators with the provision of skill-based training for local and regional HEMA team personnel. 
  • Manage and guide the strategy and compilation of economic evidence analyses utilising retrospective real world evidence research protocols per DePuy Synthes market access evidence generation projects 
  • External stakeholder economic and HTA focused relationship management inclusive of consultants 
  • Complete Global/International/Regional HEMA HE market assessment analyses for new technologies 

Customers/Account contacts 

  • Focus on government HTA agencies; hospital technology assessment; correlated to value definition 
  • Purpose of activities 
  • Deliver on HTA project milestones whilst training and developing the foundation skills and capability in the HEMA ANZ team 
  • Impact of activities and decision-making 
  • Build the body of economic strategy and evidence needed for accelerating market access of the DePuy Synthes platform & portfolio of new and current technologies, optimising time frames for project related output 
  • Level of autonomy/ supervision received 
  • Expected to work independently with high degree of local, regional and international cross-functional including global collaboration within a team-based approach to productivity and output 

Role Dimensions 

  • Communication with others outside Company 
  • Moderate external stakeholder engagement with HE skill-based leadership, focused on consultants, government agencies, hospital CEO/procurement with moderate medical & surgical professional liaison  
  • Communication with others within Company 
  • Extensive internal stakeholder engagement across multiple cross-functional and commercial teams, namely APAC & International HEMA, ANZ Marketing, Medical Affairs and Clinical Research, with HE skill leadership 
  • Resource Management 
  • High degree of experience with external based consultants; skills in literature search and exposure with understanding of health economic analysis software platforms 

Skills, Knowledge and Experience 

Required qualifications: 

  • Preferred minimum education: Master’s degree in quantitative discipline (e.g. health economics, science, applied science, and/or health policy, business administration) 
  • Preferred areas of study: Health Economics/Health Technology Assessment/Medical Science 
  •  Preferred related industry experience: 5-7+ years in medical technology or pharmaceutical industry (or equivalent); demonstrated HTA submission writing inclusive of health economic modelling experience with reports for PL, MSAC, PBAC, PHARMAC; high standard of analytical report writing; project management experience; manager level 
  •  Other qualifications: PHD or research skills, MBA 

 

Knowledge and Experience: 

  •  Understanding of the local and global commercial environment for medical technology 
  • Expert with the practical application of clinical/economic data 
  • Current knowledge of local & international reimbursement and pricing policy issues
