Job Description - Inclusion & Wellbeing Specialist - NEW ROLE (Sydney or Melbourne based)

  • We believe a high-performing firm is built on an environment where people feel safe, included and able to perform at their best — sustainably.
  • We are seeking an Inclusion & Wellbeing Specialist to join our People & Development team and play a key role in shaping a workplace that meets the highest standards of psychosocial safety, inclusion and wellbeing, while supporting our people in a demanding professional services environment.
  • Be part of a leading law firm with a strong commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and responsible leadership, in a specialist role with real influence and impact

Who are we?

We help our clients manage their risk and enable their growth. Our full-service offering combines un-matched top tier local capability complemented with an international platform.

We have deep roots in Australia spanning almost 200 years and acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional owners and custodians of these lands and waters.

Role summary

This role sits at the intersection of people risk, wellbeing, inclusion and compliance. You will provide specialist expertise to help the firm meet its legal and regulatory obligations, while driving continuous improvement in how we enable and support our people.

Reporting to the Psychosocial Safety and Wellbeing Manager, and part of an existing high performing Inclusion and Wellbeing Team, you will work closely with senior stakeholders across the firm, including colleagues from the wider People & Development (P&D) team, leadership teams and employee networks, to embed a strong culture of safety, inclusion and wellbeing.

With flexibility to be based in the Sydney or Melbourne office, you will have a range of strategic and tactical responsibilities including:

  • Enabling the P&D function to deliver services compliant with equal opportunity, psychosocial safety, and other people-related legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Providing expertise to develop and apply a risk managed and continuous improvement focus to our programs to give all our people an environment where they can perform sustainably at a high level.
  • Reviewing and reporting on our systems, processes and work in this area for ongoing compliance, dissemination of insights and making continuous improvements.
  • Promoting a strong, enabling, safety and wellbeing culture through data analysis, risk identification, and proactive reporting.

Role detail

In short, you will ensure the firm is legally compliant, ethically sound, and proactively supporting employee wellbeing, not just reacting if something goes wrong. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing team reporting for internal and external stakeholders (including our Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) reporting)
  • Conducting organisational inclusion and wellbeing risk reviews and providing advice to meet legal obligations
  • Contributing to the implementation and embedding of our Psychosocial Safety Management Plan
  • Managing governance related to policy, procedures and relevant employee groups
  • Providing advisory and operational support to our People Networks (Employee Resource Groups)
  • Managing relationships with external vendors
  • Writing communications for internal and external stakeholders
  • Managing key inclusion and wellbeing programs, including our Time to Talk sessions, Life Talks series, Wellbeing Week, Mental Health Month and employee wellbeing benefit programs.

About you

You will bring a strong combination of technical expertise, judgement and empathy, with experience operating in complex, high-expectation environments.

You will be analytical and data-driven, bringing confidence using reporting and insights to identify risks and trends.  Your credibility and calm nature will be valued when advising senior leaders on sensitive issues like mental health or health supports, discrimination or psychosocial risk. As a strong communicator, you will excel at writing clear, professional communications with an ability to understand workplace laws and translate them into practical action.

You will also have:

  • Demonstrated experience in inclusion, wellbeing, psychosocial safety, people risk or a related specialist field
  • Proven experience with Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) reporting
  • A strong understanding of Australian workplace legislation and regulatory requirements
  • Experience using data, reporting and insights to identify risk and inform decision-making
  • The confidence to advise senior stakeholders on sensitive and complex issues
  • Excellent written communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach
  • Experience working in professional services, legal, financial services or similarly regulated environments (desirable)
