This is a 12 Month Fixed Term Contract (FTC) position based in Melbourne/Sydney.

About the Team & the Position


This role combines new application delivery with support of existing integration systems, providing end‑to‑end technical ownership of integration solutions that underpin AEMO systems and market operations. You will lead the design, delivery, and ongoing support of integration capabilities across the platform.


The role blends hands‑on technical delivery with technical leadership, guiding and supporting a team of developers while ensuring solutions align with enterprise architecture principles and AEMO’s IT strategy. You will be responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of critical software applications, supporting business operations both during and outside business hours.


Spanning both project delivery and production support, the role ensures the development of new integration solutions while maintaining the stability, performance, and reliability of business services—both critical and non‑critical—through strong collaboration with internal stakeholders.


An on‑call roster will apply approximately one week in five, once the required level of system knowledge is attained and subject to team capacity. All remote support facilities will be provided, along with appropriate compensation for on‑call duties


 


Position Responsibilities



  • Contribute as part of a product‑based team, working across multiple projects and initiatives.  Provide support and enhancement for existing AEMO integration solutions.

  • Offer technical subject‑matter expertise to ensure delivery aligns with agreed scope, priorities, schedules, and business objectives.

  • Lead the investigation and resolution of major incidents and production issues, ensuring system stability.

  • Clearly escalate risks and issues to the Team Manager with concise, effective communication.

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts, Architects, Developers, and Testers to deliver high‑quality outcomes. Drive continuous improvement in technical delivery practices, automation, and documentation.

  • Provide technical direction and guidance to developers, working with architects and stakeholders to achieve optimal solutions.

  • Make informed technical decisions, balancing performance, cost, scalability, and maintainability, and communicate effectively with stakeholders from SMEs to Senior Management.


 


Position Requirements


Skills & Experience:



  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing solutions on integration platforms such as Boomi, webMethods, Kong, Redis (caching), and RabbitMQ.

  • Strong experience in Microservices and API development. Previous exposure to IDAM is desirable.

  • Solid understanding of integration architecture, including API gateways, messaging, and file‑transfer patterns. Proven experience delivering integration projects using established integration patterns.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with cross‑functional teams and lead technical delivery across multiple initiatives and streams.

  • Experience supporting 24x7 production systems, delivering robust and highly available solutions.

  • Contemporary knowledge and application of best‑practice IT design and development approaches. Strong stakeholder and vendor management capability.

  • Proven track record of implementing and supporting complex, highly available systems.

  • Experience working in high‑performance teams using Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid delivery methodologies.

  • Hands‑on experience with modern source control, DevOps, and CI/CD tooling, such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Bamboo.

  • Strong capability in producing technical documentation and contributing to the developer knowledge base.


Must be an Australian citizen with the ability to attain and maintain an appropriate level of national security clearance. 


Education/ professional Certifications: 



  • Relevant degree qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.

  • Relevant professional certifications in applicable technologies will be highly regarded
