The Position

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Maintenance Officer to oversee the maintenance of our Laverton North division. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for staff and visitors. The ideal candidate will be hands-on with a strong background in facilities management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to co-ordinate and carry-out multiple projects across multiple locations on occasion – 3 sites within a 2km radius.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the day-to-day maintenance of facilities across the Sydney metropolitan area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, building codes and standards.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules for all facilities, including preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Supervise and manage contractors to support the ongoing operations of these facilities.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement among all who work and support our business.
  • Prepare maintenance/repair requirements and manage the quotation process, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effective maintenance practices.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures without compromising safety, quality and cost.
  • Oversee relationships with external vendors and contractors, including negotiating quotes and ensuring service levels are met.
  • Plan and execute facility improvement projects, including renovations, upgrades, and repairs.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time and within cost expectations.
  • Ensure that all work undertaken complies with all building codes and health & safety regulations.
  • Able to conduct adhoc inspections and checks of facilities and equipment to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
  • Prepare monthly report on facility maintenance issues, action and costings for the Head of Logistics.

About you

  • Detail orientated tradesman with hands-on experience in building and facilities management and repairs.
  • Relevant building certifications, licences or trade qualifications in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in building and or facilities management, maintenance, renovations or repairs etc.
  • Welding experience highly regarded (oxy and arc)
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices, and safety regulations.
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage a diverse number of contractors and collaborate with various stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite.
