We are seeking a Project Safety Manager to lead and embed Health and Safety across the RTA Pacific Operations Sustaining Capital portfolio.

This is a critical leadership role responsible for providing strategic direction, governance and hands-on field leadership to ensure safe, compliant and high-performing project delivery across multiple sites.

You will partner closely with Capital Delivery Managers, Construction Leads and Contractor Partners to drive consistent safety outcomes across all delivery models, with a strong focus on critical risk management, contractor safety performance and visible field leadership.

What you’ll bring

• A strong commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
• Significant experience in health and safety leadership within mining, heavy industry or major capital project environments
• Proven ability to lead safety across multi-site or portfolio-based projects
• Deep expertise in critical risk management and contractor safety performance
• Experience managing risks within SIMOPS / live operating environments
• Strong capability in critical risk management and contractor management
• Demonstrated coaching and mentoring capability to uplift safety leadership
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Health & Safety, Engineering or related discipline
• Formal training in incident investigation methodology
• Proven leadership experience managing a team

Where you will be working

This role is based in Brisbane, supporting sustaining capital projects across Rio Tinto Aluminium Pacific Operations, including Weipa, Gladstone and New Zealand.

You will work across a diverse portfolio of projects, from brownfield upgrades within live operations to complex capital delivery environments, with regular site travel providing strong operational exposure.
